　　Shuibao, the director of the Xiangyang Municipal Transportation Bureau, introduced that there are currently 70 medium and large transportation construction projects underway in the city, with a total investment of 69 billion yuan. Among them: 1 project over 10 billion yuan, 4 projects over 5 billion yuan, 3 projects over 3 billion yuan, 9 projects over 1 billion yuan, 30 projects over 100 million yuan, and 23 projects under 100 million yuan. There are 6 expressway projects currently in progress and 2 planned for advancement.

　　Among the projects being promoted this year, the Laohukou-Gucheng Expressway officially opened in May; the Zhaoyang-Qianjiang South Expressway is in the process of applying for opening procedures, expected to officially open on July 1; the Baokang-Shennongjia Expressway has completed 100% of the earthwork for the roadbed, 90% of the bridge works, and 84% of the tunnel works, and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic within the year; the main bridge of the Hanjiang Grand Bridge, a key project of the southern ring expressway, has been capped, and the entire line has been opened for construction; the Zhaoqian North Expressway is undergoing large-scale roadbed and structure construction; the expressway from Xiangyang to Nanzhang has completed the construction at the intersection with the Haoji Railway and Zhengwan High-speed Railway ahead of schedule, with plans for full construction in the second half of the year.

　　Two expressways from Xiangyang to Yichang and from Xiangyang to Xinye are being planned. Among them, the Xiangyang to Yichang Expressway will connect to the Huhong Expressway, and once completed, it will open up a major corridor from Xiangyang to the southwest region. Preliminary work has fully started, aiming for construction to begin in 2021; the Xiangyang to Xinye Expressway will connect to the Hushan Expressway, and once completed, it will open up a major corridor from Xiangyang to the East China region. Currently, our city is actively coordinating with Nanyang City in Henan Province and reporting to the transportation departments of both provinces to strive for inclusion in the highway construction plans of the two provinces.
