Classification of equipment for pressure vessel manufacturers

Time2024-09-15

Pressure vessels are classified according to the level of pressure they can withstand.

1.Pressure VesselDivided by the level of pressure it can withstand

       (1) Low-pressure vessel (code L) 0.1MPa ≤ p < 1.6MPa.

       (2) Medium-pressure vessel (code M) 1.6MPa ≤ p < 10.0MPa.

       (3) High-pressure vessel (code H) 10.0MPa ≤ p < 100.0MPa.

       (4) Ultra-high pressure vessel (code U) p ≥ 100.0MPa.

2. Divided by the medium it contains

Non-flammable, non-toxic; flammable or toxic; highly toxic.

3. Divided by the principle of action in the process

       (1) Reaction pressure vessel (code R): Mainly used for completing physical and chemical reactions of the medium, such as reactors, reaction kettles, decomposition pots, vulcanization tanks, decomposition towers, polymerization kettles, high-pressure kettles, ultra-high pressure kettles, synthesis towers, conversion furnaces, cooking pots, steaming balls, steam pressure kettles, gas generators, etc.

       (2) Heat exchange pressure vessel (code E): Mainly used for completing heat exchange of the medium, such as shell-and-tube waste heat boilers, heat exchangers, coolers, condensers, heaters, sterilizers, dyeing machines, drying cylinders, steaming and frying pots, preheating pots, solvent preheaters, steam pots, steam stripping machines, electric steam generators, gas generator water jackets, etc.

       (3) Separation pressure vessel (code S): Mainly used for completing fluid pressure balance buffering and gas purification separation of the medium, such as separators, filters, oil collectors, buffers, washers, absorption towers, copper washing towers, drying towers, steam stripping towers, gas separation cylinders, deoxygenators, etc.

       (4) Storage pressure vessel (code C, where spherical tanks are code B): Mainly used for storing and containing gases, liquids, liquefied gases, and other media, such as various types of storage tanks.

In a pressure vessel, if it has two or more process action principles at the same time, it should be classified according to the main action in the process.
