Uses of Pressure Vessels
Pressure VesselThe uses of pressure vessels are extremely wide-ranging, playing an important role in many sectors such as industry, civil use, and military industry, as well as in many fields of scientific research. They are most commonly used in the chemical and petrochemical industries, with pressure vessels used in the petrochemical industry accounting for about 50% of the total number of pressure vessels. In the chemical and petrochemical fields, pressure vessels are mainly used for heat transfer, mass transfer, and reaction processes, as well as for storing and transporting pressurized gases or liquefied gases; they also have wide applications in other industrial and civil fields.
Pressure vessels are classified into the following four types based on their functions:
1. Reaction Pressure Vessel (Code R), mainly used to complete the physical and chemical reactions of the medium, such as reactors, reaction kettles, polymerization kettles, synthesis towers, reforming furnaces, and gas generators;
2. Heat Exchange Pressure Vessel (Code E), mainly used to complete the heat exchange of the medium, such as various heat exchangers, coolers, condensers, and evaporators;

3. Separation Pressure Vessel (Code S), mainly used to stabilize fluid pressure and purify and separate gases, such as various separators, filters, oil collectors, scrubbers, absorption towers, copper washing towers, drying towers, steam stripping towers, steam cylinders, and deoxygenators;

4. Storage Pressure Vessel (Code C, with spherical tanks coded as B), mainly used for storing or holding gases, liquids, and liquefied gases, such as various types of storage tanks.
